Listed below is our troubleshooting guide for Roper washing machine issues along with solutions.

Roper washer doesn’t spin

If your Roper washer works fine except for not spinning, try setting the timer to manual. If it spins, it means the timer is bad and must be replaced. If it doesn’t spin, the lid switch is bad.

You can verify this by removing the lid switch. The washer should start to spin if you connect together the wires that are connected inside of the lid switch assembly to see if it works.

But remember that you must plug-in power and remove other parts (such as hoses or internal components) to make sure that there isn’t something blocking electricity from displaying on your machine properly.

The washer fills, then stops

When your dryer stops mid-cycle you can check the lid switch. To begin, remove the access plate or door panel and make sure that the electrical wiring for the heating element is still connected and not broken or frayed.

You can also check if this is simply a mechanical problem by lifting the lid about an inch lower than its highest point.

If your dryer comes back to life, you know that it was this simple mechanical error making it seem like there was a problem with your electrical system.

Running or draining waterrunning or draining water

Make sure your drain hose is as close as possible to being above the water level in the tub if your Ropper washer seems stuck on a cycle. If it isn’t, your washer will not function properly.

However, make sure that you don’t completely seal off your drain hose because that will prevent proper drainage of the water inside.

You will need to replace your style pump assembly if there is no air in the tube and the water cannot drain. Please contact your technician immediately.

Dispensers clogged

Roper electric washers generally have designated spots on the inside of the bleach dispenser for either liquid chlorine bleach or detergent; the dispenser cannot hold both at the same time.

In the bottom of the washer basket, place powdered, tablet, or liquid detergent and color-safe bleach. When using a detergent dispenser, pour in the measured amount of detergent only as directed by the manufacturer.

Sources of leaks

When connecting the supply hoses to the Roper washer, don’t use old hoses that are between the machine and water faucets. Make sure to place flat washers into each end of the supply hoses before coupling them to the faucets.

Turn on both faucets and check for leakage at these connections. Check drains and plumbing within your home and make sure they are in proper working order so as not to cause any leaks.

A sink or standpipe needs 20 psi worth of pressure to successfully drain the water which comes out through a hose connected within your home’s drainage system.

If an overflowing washing machine occurs due to low water pressure in your home, it could be a problem with one of your drains or possibly even inside your house’s plumbing fixtures.

Controlling the noise

A top-loader works differently than a front loader. The top-loader requires all of the clothes to be unbalanced in order to get laundry cleaner. Sometimes, you will require two large loads instead of one when washing clothes.

Usually, you want to add various textiles inside the basket, including shirts, pants, and dresses for women, and boxers, t-shirts, and anything synthetic for men.

Tighter items like socks should be kept away from heavy-weight fabric elements like jackets or blankets otherwise, it may result in an unsatisfactory wash.

It is also important to check if your machine is even leveled if not, make sure that you have adjusted the feet accordingly.

The Roper Washer is not agitating

If your washing machine won’t agitate and the repair kit indicates that replacing the agitator may be the solution, you’ll want to inspect each of these components

The drive block that connects the washer transmission to the agitator, and if worn out, stripped, or damaged; will still cause your washing machine transmission to move back and forth but only slightly for this part or with none at all for it.

Overflowing Roper Washer

A washer will not fill with water if the inlet hose to the washer is kinked or plugged. If a slow fill is present, check the inlet hose for obvious obstructions.

A slow fill may also be caused by a faulty pressure switch, due to a faulty air tube, or due to cold weather. Before replacing any parts on the inlet valve assembly, check for debris within the valve assembly’s airway.
