The Whirlpool Dishwasher won’t turn on
The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running without the proper door seal.
If the door interlock switch is defective, it will prevent the dishwasher from starting even when the door is closed/sealed properly.
To determine if the door interlock switch is at fault, use a multimeter to test for continuity of continuity between two wires in.
The control panel that is associated with this issue (color codes may vary depending on the brand). If the switches do not have continuity replace them.
The dishwasher does not clean dishes
The water inlet valve opens up to allow water to enter the dishwasher. If the valve is clogged or defective, the dishwasher won’t get enough water to clean dishes properly.
If your dishwasher has a clog in the water inlet valve, you may need to replace it with a brand-new one. The best way to fix this problem is by shutting off power to your unit and disconnecting it from its normal power source.
Don’t ever attempt to repair this part yourself—instead call on an appliance repair professional who can help you diagnose what’s wrong with your dishwasher as well as perform necessary repairs when needed.
The dishwasher won’t drain
Dishwashers use a pump to force water through the drain hose and out of the dishwasher. If the pump is not working, the dishwasher won’t drain properly.
Use a multimeter to test for continuity across the pump motor terminals when diagnosing this issue.
If you don’t get continuity (i.e., no electrons are flowing between the two terminals) or if there is power but nothing happens, replace the drain pump.
Whirlpool Dishwasher leaks
The water inlet valve is designed to open up and allow the dishwasher to fill with water. If the water inlet valve won’t open or remains open after the dishwasher is filled with water.
Check for obstructions or clogs causing it to remain open and replace it if necessary. Water inlet valves are not repairable but are replaceable if the unit itself is broken, you must replace the part entirely.
The dishwasher doesn’t latch
If the door hinges get damaged, make sure to inspect for broken pieces. If any portion of the hinge is bent or missing, replace those parts right away.
If the latch on the door has been wiggled out of place and you need to adjust it, but if the latch is hanging off or completely missing you will want to replace it with a new one.
Dishwasher overflowing
In order to prevent the dishwasher from overflowing, you’ll need to first check the float switch. If it is defective or too restrictive.
Your dishwasher may not stop when left unattended and will continue to fill regardless of whether or not it has reached its maximum capacity until enough water begins to spill over into the tray. If your float switch happens to be either of these conditions, we recommend that you replace it.
The dishwasher is making noise
The circulation pump motor has proven faulty and may be at risk of failing. If the pump motor breaks down, there will be a lot of noise from the bearings.
If the bearings in the motor are making too much noise, then you should get them replaced as soon as possible to prevent further problems such as a short-cycling pump.
The Dishwasher won’t dry dishes
If dishwashers are not able to dry the dishes properly, this could be because the vent fan motor does not work. This can hinder a dishwasher’s drying process, so one must absolutely test for continuity to confirm if the said motor has failed.
Also, check if there are signs of wear regarding the rotation of its blade by hand. Replace the vent fan motor in case it burned out or won’t turn smoothly.
