Westinghouse Dishwasher Troubleshooting

Westinghouse Dishwasher Troubleshooting. Owning a dishwasher is convenient. Instead of doing the dishes by hand and having wet hands all day, you can focus your attention on more important tasks.

If your dishwasher isn’t functioning, though, it can be a real nuisance.

A dishwasher that doesn’t work or breaks often will only add to your burden because it could prove to be too much of a hassle and you’ll end up having to do the dishes manually anyway with disastrous results.

It may seem like you don’t have an option and need to get a new one, but before rushing out, always remember one thing.

there are many ways in which most dishwasher problems can be sorted out easily without too much fuss for example basic repairs or just routine cleaning.

To troubleshoot Westinghouse dishwasher problems, we discuss the following.

Westinghouse Dishwasher leaks

The water inlet valve opens to allow water to flow into the dishwasher.

If the water inlet valve is suffered from corrosion or rust, it won’t be able to properly open and close with fluctuations in water pressure.

As a result, your dishwasher will keep filling with water past capacity, which can lead to leakage or flooding issues.

Another possible cause of an issue with the water valve is if it’s been dented or struck hard enough that it doesn’t work properly anymore.

When the wash arm of a dishwasher is cracked, a jet of water can spray toward the door seal, which could cause a leak.

Be sure to remove the wash arm and examine it carefully. The wash arm should be replaced if cracked. We cannot emphasize enough not to glue cracks.

When the glue breaks down, more leaks will occur. If the wash arms look intact, make sure all screws are tight around any parts that support the wash arms’ function.

It may be necessary to tighten any bolts or screws that hold together parts of the dishwasher that have become loose during use over time with running water pressure or under the excess weight if you own a heavier brand-name commercial-grade kitchen appliance.

Westinghouse Dishwasher Will Not Drain

The drain pump uses an impeller to force water through the drain hose. If the drain pump isn’t working, your dishwasher won’t drain.

To determine if the part is at fault, plug it into a multimeter to detect whether or not it’s getting power.

If the part gets power but won’t run, replace it immediately; most pumps aren’t repairable and must be replaced if defective to ensure that they don’t cause more lasting damage to the machine.

In the check valve, there is a small plastic ball that prevents water from flooding back into the dishwasher after it has been drained.

Water won’t drain through the check valve if the check ball becomes stuck. If this happens try to free it.

The water pump belt may be worn or broken. In many dishwashers, the water pump belt is known as a tubular motor drive roller.

To find out whether your model contains one, you need to manually check the manufacturer’s manual for your specific dishwasher model number.

If it does contain a water pump belt that needs replacing, it can be found on the underside of the motor unit.

The wash impeller is a small plastic part that forces water from the bottom up through the arms. If the part becomes worn out or is missing some of its blades, it might not create enough pressure to force the water up through the arms.

Some models allow you to replace the part independently while others make you replace the whole assembly with the pump and motor.

Check your model number to determine if your part is replaceable or if you need to change out all of that componentry instead – search for your model number in our search bar.

Westinghouse Dishwasher Will Not Latch

Inspect the door strike assembly for damage. If the door strike has been damaged, call a locksmith and ask him to replace it.

If the latch is broken (the part of the strike which holds the latch bolt in place) the door strike assembly cannot be repaired and must be replaced.

Inspect the door latch assembly for damage. If it appears as though the latch has been forcefully broken/bent or is otherwise damaged, you’ll have to find a replacement latch.

Westinghouse Dishwasher Will Not Start

Check the touchpad for faults by pressing different buttons and observing what happens. If certain buttons don’t respond, chances are there is something wrong with it.

If the touchpad doesn’t work properly you can replace it, but first, check and make sure that the touchpad wasn’t sold separately by an individual business.

Many times all businesses will offer to sell both parts together, so it makes sense to check which company sells them before assuming they may be separate items offered by separate business entities in most cases.

The timer controls when various dishwasher components receive power. If the timer isn’t functioning properly, it might not send electricity to the dishwasher at certain times which then causes problems with how it operates or washes dishes.

When diagnosing faulty dishwashers that appear to be in good working order, make sure you check common problem areas that are more often than not prone to failure before you blame and replace the mechanics of the timer.
