The drainage system might not be able to completely drain the water from the washer. The drain pump does not drain water fast enough.

Cause 1: Broken pump belt. Cause 2: Loose or broken pump pulley.

Replace the pump and check for broken or loose parts, you may have a bad bearing that is just causing the noise and not leaking oil, suspect bearing if there are no other noises, watch out for leaks.

The goal is to get water out as fast as water comes in.

Check hoses under the washer to make sure they do not leak or restrict water flow into the washer (consider replacing them, they might contain mold).

Defective Tub Seal

The tub seal might be torn, causing water to leak from the seal

. If the tub seal is leaking around the washer tub, water will leak from underneath and can seep into the bearings located on each side of it.

A faulty bearing would lead to a failure in your washing machine and make it impossible for your washer to spin or drain properly.

We suggest replacing both the faulty tub seal and bearings as well as any other parts that have developed faults during your wash cycle (e.g., flex hose).

This is a complicated repair, so be aware that you must remove almost all of the washer’s components (including motor, pump, wiring harnesses, etc.) in order to access both the bearings and tub seal.

Faulty Drain Pump

The drain pump pumps water out of the hose. If the pump is cracked, busted, or damaged, then it may leak water

. This can cause an overflow, which will send excess water to be stored in your bathroom tub.

Check and make sure that any drain pumps are in good working order as soon as you notice leaks.

Tub Seal and Bearing Kit issues

The tub seal could be damaged, which can cause water to seep into the outer bearing components and end up causing complete failure of the bearings.

If your tub seal has sustained damage, it’s crucial that you replace both the tub seal and both hubs.

Repairing this kind of damage will require disassembling most of the washer.

So keep a couple of extra towels around for absorbency as you soak up as much water from within each component as possible to decrease your chances of losing control over what you’re cleaning in the washing process.

The drain hose is leaking

If you find that your washer is leaking, there are a few things you should know to help try and prevent it from happening again.

If the leak is extremely minor, you may be able to fix the problem by simply rerouting the drain hose in such a way that it isn’t chafing against anything or rubbing up against a wall.

When you’re dealing with leaks on this level of severity, just take a moment and relocate the hose and continue using your machine as normal.

If you find that the leak doesn’t go away even when the drain hose has been sufficiently realigned away from any potential issues or damage, then you’ll want to replace your drain hoses ASAP.

Replace Tub-to-Pump Hose

When replacing the tub-to-pump tube, we recommend keeping your old tub/tube on hand for a few months in case you may need to replace it again.

Many tubs age and wear out with time, so if yours is less than two years old then chances are you’ll have to replace it before long anyway.

You might want to place an order for the new tube almost immediately after having installed the old one.

The door boot seal might be torn

The door boot seal might be torn, causing water to leak from the seal.

Weeks later, a home inspector pointed this out in the inspection report and claimed it would lead to a rotting interior wall. We advised replacing it immediately.
