LG Dishwasher Won’t Drain

A check ball is a small plastic ball placed in the valve of a dishwasher, which prevents water from backing up and forcing the machine to overflow.

If the check ball itself becomes lodged, it will cause a malfunction. To successfully remove one from the machine, locate its position and anchor it with a screwdriver.

A drain pump can be used to force water out of a drain and in some cases, functions as a water propulsion device.

Sometimes though, the pump may not work properly; if the drain pump is not draining the water or it’s working but not draining enough, you will have to replace it with a new one.

A lot of drain pumps aren’t designed to be repaired; they’re destined to wear down over time and be replaced once they reach their expiration date which is usually after a few years depending on how often they are used and how hard they are pushed.

LG Dishwasher Won’t Clean

The wash impeller is a small plastic blade that can be found as part of either the water pump or water leveler.

The purpose of this piece is to force water through the wash arms, no matter what state the other parts might be in.

If the impeller is missing some of its fins or if it is broken, it might not be able to generate enough pressure to push water through the arms and effectively clean your dishes.

Most models allow you to replace parts independently but there are others where you have to replace both pump and motor at the same time.

The water pump belt that you have probably changed already, or it most likely needs changing. To access this, the lower panel will need to be removed first.

The water pump is what produces the pumping action for your dishwasher, so if the belt is broken, replace it.

This is generally a very easy part of the dishwasher to access and may require only loosening one or two screws before working out how best to remove this area in order to access the motor.

LG Dishwasher Will Not Start

If the dishwasher overheats, the thermal fuse shuts it off. A blown thermal fuse means the dishwasher cannot be started.

To determine if there is a fault with the thermal fuse, one can use a multimeter to test its continuity. The thermal fuse should be replaced immediately if it fails.

The touchpad should function correctly when you press the different buttons on the touchpad.

If some of those buttons do not respond, there is a chance the touchpad is defective. If the touchpad isn’t working properly, you may need to replace it.

LG Dishwasher Has Been Leaking

Check the door seal on the door. look around the edge of the door for tears, holes, or loose spots.

If you see a gap consider rebending or replacing the hinge where it is attached to the door and check to see if there might be a small piece of plastic or metal stuck in the hinge that may have accidentally been left there after repairs.

If everything looks like it’s right as rain but your dishwasher is still leaking, try checking more thoroughly to make sure all edges are seated properly,

buttons are in their exact positions, screws are in place underneath, etc to make sure they aren’t missing something critical while your troubleshooting if possible.

For the door gasket: If a dishwasher door is leaking, it is usually because of any tears or gaps in the gasket.

Close the dishwasher door on a dollar bill all the way around to determine if the gasket is making good contact.

If the dollar bill does not stick at all, there are likely gaps in the gasket that need to be addressed. If you see an area where you can easily tuck in a dollar bill and it still sticks to your satisfaction.

LG Dishwasher Will Not Latch

Damage should be checked on the door strike assembly. It should be replaced if it is damaged. You must replace the door strike if it is broken, it cannot be repaired.

Also, check the screws that secure the assembly to make sure they are tight enough, or else there will be a gap between the striker and the door frame.

The door latch is designed to keep your home safe from intruders. Over time, though, it may break and become an immediate safety hazard.

If the door latch is damaged or broken, don’t just try to tape it back together – you will only be creating a greater risk to your family.
