LG Dishwasher Not Drying Dishes

LG Dishwasher Not Drying Dishes. Taking dripping wet dishes out of a dishwasher can get very old, but it’s not the fault of a faulty dishwasher.

Before you throw in the towel, we will take a look at some of the common causes for an LG dishwasher to be unable to dry your dishes.

For example, improper loading can prevent your dishwasher from reaching the correct drying temperatures, and without enough rinse aid in your detergent, you may never get that sense of satisfaction when opening your machine and seeing bright and gleaming clean dishes.

There are many reasons why a dishwasher may not be drying dishes, but a good place to start looking is with the user.

Improper loading techniques cause the LG dishwasher to have problems correctly drying dishes.

Be sure that you have enough space between each item so that hot air can circulate and thoroughly dry every item.

Otherwise, there will be waterproof residue left on your dishes.

In this article, we discuss some issues with LG dishwashers that do not dry dishes.

Issue With Heating Element

Some dishwashers use a heating element to heat the dishwasher during the drying cycle. However, if the heating element has failed, then it may be time for a replacement.

To determine if the heating element is bad, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If there is no continuity, then it’s likely that the heater needs to be replaced with a new one.

Motor For Vent Fans

Some dishwashers use a vent fan motor to dry the dishes at the end of the cycle. If the fan motor is not working, it won’t dry properly.

To test if the fan motor has failed, check for continuity and rotate the blade by hand. It should spin easily if there’s nothing wrong with it.

If either isn’t running correctly or appears defective, then you may have to replace the vent fan motor altogether.

Loading Incorrectly

There are generally two main reasons why an LG dishwasher might not be drying your dishes: either you’re overloading it, or you’re loading your dishes improperly.

Make sure that there is enough space between the items in order for hot air to flow throughout; otherwise, your dishwasher could potentially get damaged and end up producing substandard results.

Improperly loading your dishwasher can lead to several maintenance issues, including increased noise, leaking, even water spraying out of the door, or worse yet, cracking or breaking the molded plastic components on the inside of your unit.

Wet Only On Plastic Items

LG dishwashers are not good at drying plastics, especially if they’re washing a lot of plasticware.

This is because plastic doesn’t retain heat as well as glass, ceramic, or other substances, cooling plasticware before water can evaporate and hindering its drying process.

To prevent this from happening and to prolong the lifespan of your favorite icetray, you can place your plastics in the top rack during the wash cycle.

This will allow water to flow freely throughout all of the items in the load.

Defective Vent

One of the most common problems that arise when washing dishes in a dishwasher is due to the vent on your dishwasher not being functional.

As the dishes are drying, many dishwashers need a vent to expel the hot, steamy air generated through them during the drying cycle.

Sometimes the vent can be obstructed with debris that may cause water to stay on your dishes after you finish the cleaning cycle.

You will want to check that your vent is properly functioning in order to keep moisture away from your glasses and dishes.
