You can test the door switch’s continuity using a multimeter.
This way, you’ll know whether or not the problem is with the switch before trying to replace it, which would be an unnecessary waste of money if the problem isn’t with it.
Problem with Water Inlet Valve
The water inlet valve supplies the dispenser with water. If the water inlet valve is defective or if the water pressure is too low, the valve will not open.
The valve must have a minimum pressure of 20 psi to function properly.
In order to determine whether there’s adequate input pressure, measure it using a multimeter capable of testing for continuity (green probe, red probe). If the water inlet valve does not have continuity, replace it.
Faulty Dispenser Switch
It is possible that the dispenser switches are either faulty or not connected securely. To determine if this could be the problem, you must verify that both dispensers work separately.
If they do not, there is a chance of either a faulty switch or an unconnected one. This can be solved by stopping at your local hardware store to pick up some new ones.
Clogged water filter
When it comes to dispensing water, the issue of flow is often overlooked. After all, when water is flowing out of a faucet, what more do you need?
The only problem with this though is it neglects to look at water in terms of its effects on your health.
A smooth passage from the filter through the plumbing pipes to your faucets makes for fresher and better-tasting water which will not clog up a drain or damage your pipes over time!
Door Switch is not working
The ice and water dispensers are turned on when you close the refrigerator door. If they turn off while the door is open, there may be a problem with the door switch that needs to be replaced.
With a multimeter in hand (in case you’re not familiar, it’s a device you can use to test for electrical continuity), change the state of the switch by activating it and making sure the dispenser turns on or off accordingly.
Fault in a control board
The dispenser control board is the gateway of power to each dispenser part. When the control board fails, it impedes power flow to the entire system.
If only one part is not working this could be attributed to a specific component failure but when all parts fail together then it must be concluded that a control board defection must be assumed.
Frozen Water Tube in Door
To determine if the water supply line is frozen, disconnect it at the lower section of the door and blow air through it.
If you can blow through the tube, then this means your line is not frozen. If your line is frozen, use a hairdryer to warm it up until it unfreezes.
Always ensure that you keep your freezer between 0-10 degrees F by adjusting the temperature setting on your freezer unit. This will help prevent future ice from flooding into your hose and freezing it over again!
