Even the best refrigerators need to be taken care of. If you’re looking for some quality advice on making sure your Kenmore refrigerator stays fresh, check out our comprehensive guide for all things fridge-related, including common issues and more.

Interior Temperature Problem

The refrigerators in the foodservice industry have to be kept at a certain temperature. Commercial refrigeration can come into trouble when not treated correctly.

You have to make sure that there is a consistent flow of cold air going through your fridge and getting regulated. If you notice there are a lot of frozen water crystals starting to form on some of your items, this is a sign that you need to try and adjust the temperature or allow for more airflow.

It’s important that everywhere in your refrigerator stays colder than room temperature but never too cold. If you didn’t clean out your refrigerator for a while, it might need “de-scaling” from time to time.

This might require the assistance of a professional, but it saves you from pumping harmful chemicals into the environment and upsetting customers with an adverse smell while they wait for their food.

Defective Icemaker

If your ice maker is still not producing any ice (being brand new and all,) try this: Ensure the “ice-making button” is pressed and the power to your fridge is on.

Check for leaks or misaligned water hoses; We’ve seen it time and again.

If none of these steps help, make sure the auto-defrost system has completed its cycle, as you need a good 48 hours to charge up those pipes with hot water.

Then give it just 24 more hours to see if you’re starting to see those cubes coming down the chute! If that doesn’t work, then sadly enough, call a plumber to take care of this rather than trying to save money by doing the job yourself.

The refrigerator won’t runthe refrigerator won't run

If your Kenmore Refrigerator is not cooling and you’ve already ensured that the cord is plugged in, check the electrical panel for a tripped breaker and unplug it.

And plug it back in, make sure there is not a problem with your refrigerator control panel or your control panel has been turned off in demonstration mode (try resetting it), etc.

Schedule an appointment with a certified technician to make the further inspection.

Too often the compressor runs

The compressor on your Kenmore fridge runs when the appliance is cooling. If the room temperature is higher than usual, the refrigerator will work harder to cool its interior, and the compressor will run more often.

Lower the room temperature or turn the temperature setting up one level. If the door is opened frequently, or a large amount of food has been added to the refrigerator or freezer, the interior temperature goes up, and the compressor runs more than usual to bring it back to the proper temperature.

If none of these things is an issue, check the coils on the back of your fridge for dirt or dust. Cleaning them out will instantly help reduce strain on your fridge’s compressor so you can focus more on important things like making money.

Kenmore refrigerator won’t defrostkenmore refrigerator won't defrost

The defrost circuit of your refrigerator checks how often to run the defrost cycle. If this circuit breaks down, the refrigerator will not go into the defrosting phase.

Before replacing the defrost circuit, the first test is to determine if the defrost heater and defrost thermostat are working properly.

If they’re functioning as they should, then it’s likely that the specified part is defective, so replace it with a new one.

Kenmore refrigerator’s defrost drain is clogged

Your refrigerator has a drainage and defrosts system that’s designed to release and clear the water in the frost-free refrigerator.

If you can hear water in your drain pan, then there is a high probability that it is frozen over. This causes the trapped water to back up into your refrigerator, often shorting out electrical components or spilling onto the floor.

Take care when using your self-defrosting freezer by having plenty of air circulation and making sure it is correctly vented outside for safety or accounting purposes.

Faulty Water Dispenser

The water inlet valve supplies water to the dispenser when it opens. This valve requires at least 20psi to function properly. Make sure that the water pressure to the valve is at least 20 psi.

If the water pressure is sufficient, use a multimeter to test the inlet for continuity, and be sure that you have a continuous flow of power going through this piece’s signal wire which connects to the main circuit board of the kitchen faucet.

If there isn’t a continuous flow of power coming from here, then test each wire on that terminal block one by one until you find the shorted wire and replace it with a new wire of a similar gauge – but carefully, since you have no eye protection right now.

Kenmore Refrigerator is loud or noisy

If you hear a humming noise coming from your refrigerator’s engine, it could be caused by a blade that needs to be replaced.

Check the evaporator fan blade first, as it is located in the freezer behind the back panel. Feel if it moves freely by hand. If not, carefully remove any obstruction or dust particles lying on the blade to restore proper functioning.

Likewise, check the condenser fan blade underneath your refrigerator to see if there are any insects or leaves trapped underneath – anything that may prevent ventilation and cause vibrations should be removed.
