Husqvarna lawn mower won’t start

Husqvarna lawn mower won’t start. It’s that time of the week when you need to mow your lawn (or at least, it should be). But this time, your mower won’t start.

I don’t care if you have a pretty busy schedule. Every person has an opportunity to get their lawn care done because they would never want it to look unkempt.

When my Lawn Mower breaks down, I try and take my time locating my problem instead of just collapsing over a wheel in despair because it costs me too much not to have it back up and running again immediately.

Why Husqvarna lawn mower won’t start. A Husqvarna lawn mower may have a problem starting if the gas tank is empty. It’s also possible for your Husqvarna to not start due to an air filter that needs cleaning, a clogged fuel line, or low gas in your Husqvarna’s fuel tank.

Defective Carburetor

The carburetor is possibly clogged. This typically occurs when too much fuel is left in the grass-cutting machine over time. Over time, some of the gasoline may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance.

This sticky liquid can build up and become an impenetrable clog in the fuel filter, stopping your engine from starting at all.

If you suspect that your carburetor may be clogged and you aren’t able to start your equipment, then try using a high-detergent engine cleaner to help break apart the unwanted gunk and try starting it up again.

If it still doesn’t work, then you’ll either have to have the carburetor professionally cleaned or buy a new one altogether.

Faulty Spark Plugfaulty spark plug

Inspect the spark plug for signs of wear or damage. If the porcelain insulator is cracked, an electrode is burned away or damaged, or there is heavy carbon buildup at the electrode, replace your spark plugs before they pressure test you.

To determine if the spark plug is defective, use a spark plug tester. You should see a strong spark between the tester’s terminals when the engine is cranking.

If there is no spark, this indicates that your spark plugs are defective and should be replaced immediately.

Fuel Pump fault

The fuel pump contains Three ports the gas in port, the gas out port, and the pulse port. As the engine is being operated, the air inside the crankcase alternately pressurizes and depressurizes that little rubber tube.

This pressurized air moves a diaphragm inside of the pump, which pumps the gas If oil gets into that small tube, then it can clog up that diaphragm making it more difficult for your vehicle to get any sort of response from the fuel pump.

The company responsible for the design of your car recommends checking both those tiny pressure relief valves on either side of your fuel pump.

As well as ensuring that there is no gas leaking from anywhere around your motor or carburetor (all you need to take a look at is just under where your hood or bonnet sits. This will give you an idea about whether anything has been leaking onto these lines or not).

Damaged Ignition Coildamaged ignition coil

The ignition coil transfers power from your car’s battery to the spark plug, which then fires and ignites liquid fuel within the cylinder.

If, for some reason, this isn’t happening or if the engine isn’t starting, it could be that there’s a fault in the coil’s wiring or trouble with another part – like the safety switch – preventing the current from reaching its contacts.

In that case, you would need to replace not only the ignition coil but also both affected engine parts separately first (ensuring everything else is working). Only when both of those parts have been tested and replaced should you worry about replacing your ignition coil again.

Rewind spring and pulley issue

The rewinding spring might not be working. If the starter rope is pulled and released, the rewinding spring recoils its length onto a pulley.

If this rewinding spring has been worn out by excessive use or if it’s not properly engaging with the pulley, then the starter cord cannot recoil onto its endpoint.

As a result, the engine will not start. If you’re experiencing problems like these and your own manual is covering instructions on how to either replace or adjust a broken/worn-out rewinding spring, we recommend you replace it.

Fuel Filter problem

If your lawnmower fails to start and the engine keeps turning in the wrong direction, then maybe it’s due to the fuel filter or the fuel filter tube being clogged.

If you have recently used different lawnmower fuel, then It is safe to say that it might be the cause of your problem. In this situation, you should clean out the fuel tank by cleaning it with a drop of detergent and drying it off with a paper towel.

Next, remove the old fuel filter tube as well as its lower seal if equipped. Then place a new one back on finger tight and wrap an anti-seize rope around it until sturdy in place and wait until it dries up completely before fueling up again.

Broken Flywheel Key

The flywheel key is a small metal piece that fits into the crankshaft and engages with the flywheel. The key prevents damage to the engine by breaking in half when it hits an object, like if a lawnmower golf cart ran over a hard curb.

If the key breaks, your lawnmower won’t start up again until you replace it. To do so, disconnect your mower’s wiring harness plug from its electrical outlet, remove the screws holding the flywheel cover down, and take out the broken flywheel key.

With new parts in hand, bolt down your flywheel cover again before reconnecting the wiring harness to its electric plug.

Start and Safety Switches

Test the continuity of the start switch and safety switch using a multimeter to determine if they are defective.
The correct continuity should be present, which will cause the circuit to complete, and an LED light indicator of less than 3V should show that it is on.
If this isn’t the case, the electrical start switch might not be properly connected to its terminals in the wiring harness or a bad relay interlock assembly might have been plugged into the control box, or it may have been inserted upside down.
