In this article, we discuss how to use a Nespresso machine.

Water Tank Check

Check the water tank of your Nespresso machine. Make sure you fill it with enough water to brew as many cups of espresso as you would like.

Having extra water in the machine makes it easier for you to make additional drinks with ease.

Activate The Machine

To turn on the Original series of Nespresso machines, press the “espresso” or “lungo” button. Press the “on” button for the Vertuo series of machines.

Firstly, the light will blink, but then it becomes stable when the machine gets ready for use. The stable light serves as a signal of the readiness of a specific machine and one can begin preparing their cup of espresso.

Set The Cup On The Tray

Put your espresso or coffee cup in the tray right above where the spout for dispensing hot drinks is found.

This area is going to typically be fixed when you’re looking at a Nespresso machine, although there are some Vertuo models with an adjustable tray so that you can place a small espresso cup closer to the spout that dispenses hot drinks.

When using an adjustable tray, you have to make sure it is positioned where you want it before locking down this area.

Insert The Coffee Capsule

For the Original machine, lift the lever that is on-screen to insert capsules. To put in an original capsule in your Vertuo machine, slide open the part of this machine that looks like a lid and lift up the head to insert the capsule.

Put Nespresso’s original capsule into its port by sliding it under a flap in its top panel. For the Virtuoso Close lid and then press down on the lid’s cover to move forward with brewing.

For both Vertuo machines and Virtuoso’s, when the coffee has finished brewing, simply pour.

Adjusting The Drink Amount

The Vertuo-series of espresso machines are manually operated, allowing you – the barista or aficionado – to pour espresso or lungo, or any size cup of coffee.

Press the on button and pause to stop the pouring process when your desired amount has reached your cup. Then press the ON button again to resume dispensing. It’s that easy.

Taking Out The Used Capsulestaking out the used capsules

Nespresso coffee machines use a coffee capsule only once, and then they cannot be used again. After using the capsule in the machine, you have to remove it with a specific gesture.

All machines have certain ways of releasing and ejecting the used capsules. For the Original units, you lift up and release the lever once more to throw away the used capsule into your garbage can.

With Vertuo models, you unlock the top portion of the lever so that you can easily throw out your used capsules by either tapping or pushing them straight into your own personal trash bin.

Sweeping The Coffee Machine

When you have finished brewing coffee with your Nespresso, turn the machine off and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

Make sure to remove the used coffee capsule shell, place it into your garbage bin, then wipe out anything remaining in the cylinder that could be disposed of later on when you’re ready to come back for more delicious brewed coffee.

Clean the removable tray on top of your unit where you choose to place your Nespresso pods, along with any other parts of the machine that you should take care of every once in a while like its water tank if necessary.
