How to clean hot tub filter

How to clean hot tub filter. A hot tub is a great way to relax after a long day, but if you want to keep using it for a long time, you’ll want to make sure that it is properly maintained.

One of the most important parts of caring for your hot tub is keeping the filter clean.

Many people who own hot tubs assume that they just have to put in water and chemicals and everything will be fine, but this isn’t true at all. Hot tub filters are there to help everything run smoothly.

If the filter gets dirty or clogged, it’s more likely that your hot tub won’t be able to meet its many needs including using less water and chemicals.

So that it can function properly as well as having jets and other accessories that work at maximum power instead of struggling along with reduced effectiveness.

We always want things to look nice but sometimes it can be a hassle especially when there are certain tasks that you keep putting off for later like buying groceries for supper or cleaning tools in your garage.

But we all need to think about how a person with obsessive-compulsive behavioral tendencies can get very stressed out by leaving their stuff around.

It will guarantee productivity during your day while also giving us the peace of mind every person deserves because we all hate living amongst the clutter.

Lastly, before moving on to other items on our checklist, it’s a good idea to make sure that we regularly clean our hot tub filters.

Too much debris could lead to poor circulation and ultimately poor filtration not to mention poor hygiene for the people soaking in its water.

Taking a quick rinse

Rinse the Filter Every now and then, you’ll want to take some time to rinse your filter. The benefit of doing so is that it can help prevent residues from building up in your filter as a result of using chemical treatments.

It’s important to note that this isn’t a method for deep-cleaning your filters but rather just a quick solution to maintain them.

For regularly used filters, we recommend performing a full clean once every 2 weeks  The following steps should be completed before reattaching the filter, however:

There is a simple way you can sanitize the inside of your spa. Shut off your hot tub, removing the Promax key and isolator switch.

Use your hose to rinse up and down as well pushing it within your pleats and against the walls of your spa. Once finished with this, replace the filter in your hot tub.

Using a chemical rinse

Generously spray the hot tub filters, and let them sit for about 15 minutes to allow the cleaner to do its job. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

If your filter cleaner doesn’t come in a spray bottle, you can easily transfer it to one that does using one of those handy “just add water” kits.

Check to see whether your filter cleaner is a concentrate that you need to dilute before using. If so, carefully dilute according to instructions on the label.

Using Chemical Soaks

To properly clean your filters, you will need to make sure that they are completely soaked. To do this, the directions are simple.

In a large bucket, mix together one package of filter soak (this should be 16 oz.) and 3 gallons of water for each hot tub filter.

If there’s enough room for more filters in the same bucket, soak them too. If not use separate buckets for each filter.

Submerge the filter in the bucket, let it soak for at least 24 hours but ideally 48 hours and never longer than 5 days.

After the soak time is complete, rinse off all the excess chemical residue before placing it back into your hot tub so as not to introduce any contaminants into your water supply based on direction from Pure Spa or at least what other customers have said in their reviews of it.

Some additional tips for cleaning hot tub filters

While bleach is a traditional way of sanitation, we strongly advise against using it on hot tub filters.

Not only will you damage your filter media, but all the hard work that went into building it up e.g. using a good filter cleaner will be destroyed also.

If you’re trying to save money or just want to clean your hot tub naturally, try household cleaners with high ratings from Consumer Reports on nearly every part except hot tub filters.

dishwashing detergent

Dishwashing detergent has chemicals in them and shouldn’t be used for cleaning your spa filter because it damages the polyester

fibers and reduces the effectiveness of the SPA filter due to clogging (which means inconvenience for you and water waste for the environment).

You should never put SPA filter cleaner in your dishwasher.

Hard surfaces like ceramics and plastics are what dishwasher detergent is made for, not filter media.
