Frigidaire refrigerator leaking water on floor. If you have a leaky Frigidaire refrigerator and have no idea where the source of that leak is, you could pop open the back of your fridge to see if any of the pipes connecting to your ice maker or water dispenser look damaged in any way (they may also be wet).
Alternatively, check if there are any internal issues that could be causing the water from your cooling coils to flood onto the floor, as sometimes pipes can become blocked by frozen food.
If you do find an issue with one of those features inside your refrigerator’s freezer, it’s important to contact a professional that has the right skillset needed to fix the problem in order to avoid flooding occurring again.
Frigidaire refrigerator leaking water on floor
Why is the Frigidaire refrigerator leaking water on the floor? If the defrost drain is frozen, the water will overflow the drain trough and drip down to the bottom of the compartment. This water can eventually leak onto the floor. Check for a clogged or frozen defrost drain.
Leaking refrigerator water line
Sometimes, refrigerator leaks are more of a water line issue than a refrigeration problem. There is an actual water line that connects your Frigidaire refrigerator to your source of water.
This line gets damaged at times because incorrectly connected supply lines and hoses can result in incomplete or poorly placed connections.
Refrigerators should be pulled away from the wall to check for cracks in this line. If there are any damages found, it would be best to call out a plumber to assess these damages before attempting any type of repair on your own.
Clogged Defrost Drain
In the refrigerator, the drain tube carries water from the automatic defrost system to the drainpipe, where it eventually evaporates.
Frigidaire refrigerators can leak under the deli drawer if this tube becomes clogged with ice over time. A leak can also occur if too much water has accumulated in the pan or on the drain disk before it can evaporate.
Most are found behind the refrigerator’s back panel, near the evaporator coils. Remove the refrigerator’s rear panel, remove the plug, and use a turkey baster to flush the tubes with hot water. This will break up any icy clogs.
Water Inlet Valve Fault
One common cause for a leaking Frigidaire refrigerator is a defective water inlet valve. This valve opens and closes to provide water from your home’s water supply line to the dispenser and ice maker.
To inspect the valve, move the refrigerator away from the wall to check if it is securely attached to the waterline. If it is cracked or damaged, it should be replaced with a new one.
Refrigerator drain pan leaks
Cracks or damage to the drain pan can cause leaking under the refrigerator, although drain pan problems are rare. Any cracks or holes in the drainpipe underneath the refrigerator should be repaired.
But if there are no cracks in the pan, this may indicate a problem with the condenser fan or evaporator coils. In the event that these parts fail, the excess water could form in your drain pan, causing it to overflow and requiring professional help in order to restore your appliance to full functionality.
Assembly of water tanks
Check the water tank assembly. Look for leaks. It is possible for a leak to be very small and difficult to spot with your naked eye if it has developed.
If you notice a leak in the water tank assembly, replace it immediately. Plastic tanks can’t be repaired with glue since they won’t adhere to their surface.
Defective water filter
When refilling the cartridge, make sure you check whether the filter is fitted properly on the top of the water dispenser. If it is not fitted properly, two things might happen:
The unit will begin to drip, in which case you should remove the filter and fit it again right at the top of your water dispenser.
If the filter is fitted tightly and there is no leakage, you’re good to go ahead and put fresh water in your water dispenser.
