It ensures that the door shuts tightly and prevents it from opening while the machine is either running or not as well as plays a role in whether or not it will run smoothly overall.
If any part of the latch is damaged, it needs to be replaced immediately so that it won’t cause any more problems in terms of how your machine runs and ensuring people inside of it are safe.
