Frigidaire Air Conditioner Troubleshooting. Don’t let summer sneak up on you. The warmer weather is coming, and you know your air conditioning system will need to be in top shape before the first customers start arriving.
Don’t waste another few weeks of discomfort with an underperforming residential air conditioning unit, especially since you will have others relying on it during the hotter months coming much too quickly.
Evaluate your AC maintenance and repair needs before entering into the warm weather season so that everything is running as smoothly as possible.
Frigidaire Air Conditioner Troubleshooting
To troubleshoot the frigidaire air conditioner, we discuss some of its problems here.
Frigidaire Air Conditioner Is Noisy
Air conditioners have a fan blade in the front and a fan in the back. Make sure that both are still working correctly. If either fan is not operating properly or is touching housing, repair or replace it with a new one.
When the compressor is wearing out, it makes a lot of noise unless it’s lubricated. However, when this happens, it’s not necessary to finish replacing the compressor unless your repairman recommends you do so.
If you have come across this scenario and you would like to have a new compressor bolted in instead, have a professional take care of this job for you.
Frigidaire Air Conditioner Will Not Turn Off
The main power board is the central contactor and relay station that provides voltage to all of the components in an air conditioning unit.
A malfunctioning control board can lead to other problems with your air conditioning, for example, a complete failure of the compressor to operate.
It’s important to pinpoint exactly what the cause of this problem is before assuming something as simple and cheap as replacing the main power board will solve it.
If there are several other symptoms indicating that absolutely everything else is working fine apart from a faulty power board, then it might be worth taking a look into getting that replaced.
The relay board provides voltage to many of the air conditioner’s main components, including the fan motor and compressor. If there is a problem with the relay board, it might provide continuous voltage to the compressor.
Check other parts which are commonly defective before you replace the relay board, but don’t forget that your compressor might be fine.
Frigidaire Air Conditioner Compressor Will Not Run
The thermostat is a component that turns on the air conditioning when the temperature of a room reaches a predetermined level.
If you set your thermostat to 72 degrees and it doesn’t work properly, causing room temperatures to exceed 78 degrees instead, then there might be an issue with the thermostat itself.
If you determine the issue is with your existing thermostat, you should consider purchasing one that accommodates your household’s needs today and in the future.
The overload protects the compressor from burning out if it draws too much current. Over time, the overload can burn out, but this usually is noticeable pretty quickly when your light won’t work.
To determine if the overload is burned out, use a multimeter to test for continuity. If the overload does not have continuity, replace it immediately with one that works correctly.
Frigidaire Air Conditioner Fan Won’t Work
The blower motor may be defective or broken. First, check to see how freely the fan blades spin around. If they do not move easily, then the blower motor will need replacement.
Make sure that the power is getting to the motor and if it is, but still does not work, you will have to replace it. It is impossible for man or beast to repair a broken motor.
The rotary switch switches on the fan motor by turning. Over time, the metallic features inside of the switch can become cracked or mossy. This damages the ability of electricity to travel through the rotary switch.
In order to determine whether or not your rotary switch is functioning properly, use a multimeter to check for electric continuity according to your air conditioner’s wiring diagram. If your rotary switch does not conform with electric continuity standards per your wiring diagram, replace it immediately.
Frigidaire Air Conditioner Won’t Cooling
The run capacitor’s purpose is to protect the motor from higher voltages during times of peak demand. In order for the compressor to work, it must have a running capacitor.
The way to tell if the run capacitor has burned out is by testing it with a multimeter. If from your tests you find that there isn’t continuity in the capacitor, then replace it and test it again.
If the air filter is clogged, it will affect whether or not air can successfully pass through your air conditioner. Reduced flow of cool air through a machine leads to less cooling ability in addition to frosting over of the evaporator coils which essentially makes your AC malfunction more so than work.
To avoid these issues we recommend using a vacuum cleaner on the air filter to loosen debris as well as replacing the said air filter in case it cannot be cleaned.
