Crosley Freezer not freezing
When a motor, like a fan that cools your freezer, isn’t working correctly, you might notice that you have trouble keeping your food frozen or it will take longer for foods to stay cold.
To test if this is the problem, open the freezer door and manually activate the freezer door switch. If nothing happens – don’t worry too much! if you see any problem then replace the motor.
Control boards are often mistaken for being defective when they really aren’t. If you have determined that all of the other components are working properly, replace the main control board.
If the start relay is not working properly, the compressor may run intermittently or may not run at all. If no air runs through the freezer to keep it cold, food is likely to freeze.
To determine if the start relay is defective, unplug the freezer and then remove the start relay from the compressor. On a multimeter, test for continuity between the start and run terminals.
If there’s no continuity or if it smells burnt, replace it with a new one to restore proper operation in your fridge.

The compressor is like a motor. It compresses the refrigerant and circulates the refrigerant through the evaporator and condenser coils. If the gauge shows continuity between the electrical pins on the side of the compressor, then it’s working fine.
If there is no continuity, then that means that either it’s a bad compressor, or there’s something wrong with your run relay- you should call a professional to have them check that out for you.
If the start relay doesn’t function properly, the compressor may run intermittently or not at all. This results in difficulty with maintaining freezer temperatures, making it necessary to unplug the device to allow temperatures to rise sufficiently so as to be able to store frozen food in it.
Control boards are often misdiagnosed by first-time before replacing the control board, first, check some other commonly defective components. If you have determined that all of the other components are working properly, replace the main control board.
Crosley Freezer runs all the time
The temperature control thermostat rotates from the lowest setting to the highest level with a click. If there is no click and it does not move from the lowest setting to the highest, replace the thermostat as well as any wires connected to it.
The evaporator fan motor is used to blow air over the freezer coils in order to cool down the refrigerator.
Most refrigerators have one, and on most, it will shut off if the door is open which is why when opening the refrigerator door it makes a knocking sound.
If you have confirmed that the door isn’t blocked and that it’s actually closed but that no matter what you do you can’t get your fan motor to start up then you should replace it because something might be wrong with it.
If the condenser coils of your chest or upright freezer are inside the walls, you won’t have to clean them although it can’t hurt anything. If the condenser coils aren’t protected rooms or behind walls, they should be cleaned every 6 to 12 months.
If your condenser coils start collecting residue they may not be able to function properly and you’ll find that your freezer will lose its cooling power. So make sure you give them a good dusting at least once a year.
