Amana Refrigerator’s Water Dispenser problems
The best way to determine if the water supply tube is frozen is to disconnect it at the bottom of the door and blow air through it.
If you notice that no air passes through, this indicates that the water supply tube has in fact become frozen.
Once this is verified, use a hairdryer or hair straightener to melt any ice inside the tube and reconnect it. It’s also a good idea to make sure that your freezer stays at its optimal temperature; a temperature between 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit will help keep your water supply completely unfrozen!
The water inlet valve opens to supply water to the dispenser. If you see that the water inlet valve is leaking or that there are signs of corrosion around it, you may have an issue with the pipes.
Otherwise, make sure your plumbing system retains at least 20 psi [or 110 kPa] and re-test for functionality. The valve requires functioning pressure of at least 20 psi [or 110 kPa].
Amana Refrigerator Produce noise
If your refrigerator is making popping or cracking noises, it likely means that the compressor is struggling to run. It is most likely failing and could cost you a lot of money in repairs.
The first step you should take is to check the area just below where the freezer meets the fridge for a small panel.
Remove this panel and look for an object that may have fallen into it such as a forgotten container or even a bug from outside.
If you do not find anything causing damage after inspecting this compartment, you can open up the back of your fridge to locate the compressor unit which will be attached by wires to a control box also inside.
Simply unplug this trapped area and wait for around ten minutes before plugging it back in to see if there are any changes in sound coming from your refrigerator.
Amana Refrigerator’s faulty ice dispenser
The control board will be the most likely faulty part on a malfunctioning dispenser system.
After testing whether the power is supplied properly to each individual dispenser component, test the control board with some jumper wires. If this does not help, replace the control board.
The ice dispenser switches send voltage to the dispenser. In order for the dispenser to work, all of these switches must be working properly.
To determine if a dispenser switch is defective, a multimeter can be used to test each switch for continuity. If a dispenser switch does not have continuity, it means that it is no longer working and must therefore be replaced with a new one.
Amana Refrigerator’s ice maker stops working
The ice maker may not work normally if the freezer is set at temperatures above 0 degrees Fahrenheit or if frost has accumulated on the evaporator coils.
If so, clean off the frost on the evaporator coils and ensure that the condenser fan is working properly.
Make sure that object are not being left in front of the open freezer door and be sure to keep food items stored in sealed containers to help maintain proper cooling throughout your appliance.
Ice maker units require an ice maker assembly in order for frozen cubes to form. If such a component has malfunctioned, check whether the water inlet valve, water line, and fan are operative first.
Unless any of these components is faulty or the freezer temperature is 4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, replace the ice maker assembly.
Amana Refrigerator defrosting problems
When your refrigerator’s defrost cycle is broken, you need to replace the defrost control board.
The first test is whether your refrigerator defrosts heater and defrost thermostat is functioning correctly by using a circuit tester or multimeter to check for voltages in the correct places.
If both are working correctly, then it’s likely your defrost control board is defective and will require replacement.
The defrost timer turns on the defrost heater every so often to melt any frost that may have accumulated on the evaporator coils.
If the defrost timer is defective, it may not advance into the defrost cycle or send power to a defrost heater during a defrost cycle.
To determine if this is the cause of your problem, note if advancing the dial into a defrost cycle causes your evaporator coils to thaw.
If your coils do not thaw within 30 minutes or the dial does not advance without you turning it, you’ll need to replace your refrigerator’s thermostat.
